Make the game. Know the rights.
What you can do with our templates and with the cards you make. Short version: play with them anywhere, just don't resell them.
Plain-English draft. Have it reviewed by a lawyer before launch.
The short version
- Use any template you have access to for personal, classroom, team and event games, including events where you charge entry.
- Buying or unlocking a template gives you a license to use it, not ownership of the design. The artwork and word lists remain ours.
- Don't resell, redistribute or repackage our templates, whether as files, printables or a competing product.
- The words and images you add are yours.
- Need more? Ask about an extended license.
Permitted uses
These apply to free templates, templates you've bought or unlocked, bundle templates and templates included with your plan.
| Use | Examples | Standard license | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | Family game night, birthday party, a Halloween party at home | Allowed | Print as many cards as your plan allows and play as often as you like. |
| Classroom & education | Lessons, review games, school events, tutoring, homeschool | Allowed | Includes sharing printed or digital cards with your students and their families for class use. |
| Events & teams | Office socials, team building, weddings, showers, clubs, community groups | Allowed | Play with as many people as you print for or your live-game limit allows. |
| Commercial & paid events | Ticketed bingo nights, fundraisers, bar or restaurant game nights, events you run for a client | Allowed | You can charge for the event. You can't sell the cards or templates themselves as a product. |
| Resale & redistribution | Selling printed cards or PDFs, listing templates on marketplaces, sharing template files publicly | Not allowed | Not allowed under the standard license. Ask us about an extended license. |
You can show cards made from our templates on social media, in photos and in videos of your event. A mention of bingo cards.io is appreciated, not required.
What you own
When we say a template is “yours forever”, we mean your right to use it doesn't expire. It works like this:
- Bought with credits or in a bundle: your license to use it is permanent.
- Plus monthly unlocks: permanent once redeemed, even if you cancel later.
- Included with Pro: licensed for as long as your Pro subscription is active.
- Free templates: licensed for as long as they're offered on the site, and cards you already made stay usable.
A license is not a transfer of intellectual property. The template's artwork, layout and word lists remain owned by bingo cards.io or our licensors. Your license is personal to your account and can't be transferred or sold.
What's not allowed
- Selling or giving away our templates, or cards made from them, as printables, PDFs or digital downloads (for example on Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers or similar marketplaces).
- Sharing template files or bulk exports publicly, or with people outside your event, class or team.
- Using our designs or artwork in a logo, trademark or merchandise.
- Using our templates to build a competing template library, app or service, or to train AI models.
- Removing or hiding branding from free-plan cards by editing the exported files.
Your words, uploads & AI cards
- The words, phrases and images you add are yours. If you print a card with your own words on one of our designs, the words are yours and the design is licensed to you.
- Only upload images you have the right to use.
- Cards you generate with AI can be used in the same way as any other card you make. AI output isn't guaranteed to be unique, so others may get similar results.
- If you build a card entirely from your own content and our editor's basic layouts, you can use it however you like, including commercially.
Branding on free cards
Cards made on the Free plan carry a small bingo cards.io mark. Plus and Pro remove it. Please leave the mark in place on free cards; that's what keeps the free plan free.
Extended licenses
Want to sell printed card sets, use our designs in a product, run games at large scale for clients, or something else not covered here? We're open to it. Contact us about licensing or email hello@bingocards.io with what you have in mind.
